The main story of Starfield will take place in 2330, but a key part of its lore appears to be the Colony War, a bitter conflict waged 20 years prior between two key factions: the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective. The area of space that we’ll be exploring is known as The Settled Systems, and starts with our own solar system and expands outwards by around 50 light years into the Milky Way.
